Magnetic Cable Data & Display Capabilities
Chargeasap magnetic cables are designed for reliable charging and everyday data transfer. This guide explains what they support and where limitations may apply.
Data Transfer & Tethering Support
Yes. Magnetic cables support data transfer for both Apple and Android devices.
Supported uses include:
file transfers between devices
tethering & hotspot connections
Apple CarPlay
Android Auto (where supported)
syncing & backups
Data speed is USB 2.0, which is suitable for everyday transfers.
Display Output (4K Monitor Support)
Our magnetic cables support USB 2.0 data speeds.
Because of this, they do not support video output such as:
external monitor display
screen mirroring
4K video transmission
Video output requires USB 3.0 or higher bandwidth, which magnetic cable designs do not currently support.
If you need monitor output, please use our dedicated USB-C video cable
MacBook to Phone Data Transfer
USB-C phones (Android & others)
Fully supported
File transfer and syncing work normally
Lightning devices (iPhone & older iPads)
Due to Apple’s authentication requirements and Lightning protocol limitations:
magnetic Lightning tips cannot support Mac-to-iPhone data transfer
this limitation applies to all cross-compatible magnetic cables
For transferring files between a MacBook and iPhone, we recommend:
• AirDrop
• iCloud
• Wi-Fi transfer apps
• Finder/iTunes sync with a certified cable
Why These Limitations Exist
Magnetic cables are engineered for convenience and cross-device compatibility.
However, compact magnetic tip designs limit bandwidth and Apple certification requirements restrict certain Lightning data functions.
This is an industry-wide limitation rather than a defect.
