Troubleshooting — Magnetic Cables
If your magnetic cable is not charging or connection seems inconsistent, the issue is usually related to alignment, compatibility, or debris interfering with the connection.
Follow the steps below. Most issues are resolved within the first few steps.
Step 1: Confirm cable & tip compatibility
Magnetic cables and tips are range-specific.
Make sure:
the cable and tip belong to the same range
the tip attaches securely to the cable
the tip is fully inserted into your device
👉 See compatibility guide for details.
Step 2: Ensure the tip is fully inserted
The magnetic tip must sit flush inside the charging port.
If it is not fully inserted, charging may be intermittent or not start.
Press gently to ensure it is seated correctly.
Step 3: Clean the connectors and device port
Dust or lint is the most common cause of connection issues.
Check and clean:
the magnetic connector on the cable
the tip inside the device
your device charging port
Use:
compressed air
a soft dry brush
a wooden toothpick (gently)
For stubborn debris, lightly clean the metal contacts with isopropyl alcohol.
Avoid liquids entering the device port.
Step 4: Check alignment & connection
Ensure the cable snaps into place securely.
If connection seems weak:
rotate the cable 180° and reconnect
confirm magnets align properly
avoid movement while charging
Even slight misalignment can interrupt charging.
Step 5: Verify charger & power source
Charging performance depends on your power source.
Try:
a different wall charger
a high-output USB-C charger
a different power outlet or USB port
Low-power adapters may prevent fast charging.
Step 6: Restart and update your device
Device software can occasionally affect charging behaviour.
restart your device
ensure your device is updated to the latest software version
After restarting, reconnect the magnetic cable.
Step 7: Test with another device or tip
To isolate the cause:
try charging another device
test with another compatible magnetic tip
test with another cable if available
This helps determine whether the issue is device-specific.
Step 8: Connection is slow or intermittent
Charging may appear inconsistent if:
debris interrupts contact
the battery is nearly full
device temperature is elevated
the cable is moved during charging
Ensure a stable connection and allow time for charging to begin.
When everything is working correctly
the cable snaps into place securely
the device begins charging shortly after connection
fast charging activates when supported
the connection remains stable
Good to know
Magnetic tips are range-specific and not interchangeable
Debris is the most common cause of connection issues
Charging speed depends on charger output and device requirements
Devices only draw the power they need
