Troubleshooting — Wall Chargers & Travel Adpaters
If your charger is not powering devices or charging seems inconsistent, the issue is usually related to the outlet, cable, device, or connection.
Follow the steps below. Most issues are resolved within the first few checks.
Step 1: Check the power source
Try a different wall outlet
Plug directly into the wall rather than a power strip
If travelling, ensure the plug adapter is firmly attached
If using a travel adapter, confirm it is fully inserted and locked into place.
Step 2: Test without plug adapters (if applicable)
If you are using a plug adapter:
try a different adapter
test the charger in a region-compatible outlet if available
Loose or incompatible adapters can interrupt power.
Step 3: Check the cable
Charging cables are the most common cause of charging issues.
test your cable with another device
try a different cable
ensure the cable supports the required power output
check for fraying or damage
Low-quality or damaged cables may prevent fast charging.
Step 4: Test with another device
To identify the source of the issue:
try charging a different device
confirm whether the issue occurs across multiple devices
If another device charges normally, the issue may be device-specific.
Step 5: Check port stability & connection
Ensure ports and connections feel secure.
cables should insert smoothly and sit firmly
ports should not feel loose
the cable should not wobble once connected
If debris is present, gently clean the port.
Step 6: Try a different port
If your charger has multiple ports:
test another USB port
test USB-C vs USB-A if available
This helps determine whether the issue is port-specific.
Step 7: If using the G6 Travel Adapter
ensure the correct plug is fully extended and locked
confirm the outlet socket is stable
verify your device supports 100–240V input when using the AC outlet
try charging using the USB ports instead of the AC outlet
Some appliances are designed for specific regional voltages and may not operate correctly when used in another country.
Example:
A Dyson hair dryer purchased outside the United States may be designed for 220–240V regions. When used in the U.S. (110–120V) with the G6 adapter, it may not power on or perform correctly due to the lower voltage.
This is due to voltage differences, not an issue with the adapter.
Most modern electronics such as laptops, phone chargers, and cameras support worldwide voltage and will work normally.
Step 8: Charging is slow or intermittent
Charging speed may vary due to:
cable wattage limitations
multiple devices sharing power
device temperature or battery protection
proprietary charging technologies
This is normal behavior and not a charger fault.
When everything is working correctly
devices begin charging shortly after connection
cables fit securely without movement
ports feel firm and stable
charging speed adjusts based on device needs
Good to know
most charging issues are cable-related
multi-port chargers redistribute power automatically
travel adapters require secure connections
devices only draw the power they need
