Powerbank Battery Decreases When an Apple USB-C to Lightning Cable Is Left Plugged In
If you notice a small battery decrease when an Apple USB-C to Lightning cable is left connected to your powerbank, this is normal behaviour.
Why this happens
Flash Pro and Flash Pro Plus powerbanks feature automatic device detection. This means charging begins automatically when a device is connected — no power button press is required.
Apple’s USB-C to Lightning cable contains a small internal chip used for device authentication and power management.
Even when not connected to an iPhone, this chip can be detected by the powerbank as an active device. When this happens:
the powerbank activates its output circuit
a small amount of standby power is used
the display may show a small output (such as 5V)
This behaviour is unique to Apple’s cable design and is not a fault.
How to prevent unnecessary power usage
To avoid standby power use:
unplug the cable when not charging a device
disconnect accessories after use
This ensures maximum battery preservation.
Good to know
This behaviour is caused by the cable’s internal chip
It does not indicate a problem with your powerbank
Other USB cables typically do not trigger this behaviour
